Facilities

Cumberland Camp has been located on Happy Hills Acres Road since the 1980s. The camp property was “sold” to the Cumberland Association of Free Will Baptists by Col. Cecil Hill, a retired military officer who had purchased the property with the hopes of holding a camp. His dream resulted in the establishment of Happy Hills Acres, which eventually became Cumberland Youth Camp. The facility has grown over the years to include 320 acres and 23 buildings. Today, CYC offers youth summer camps, retreat ministries, and camp rental to other groups.

CYC offers five weeks of age-graded camps each summer. These weeks are open to any young person. Approximately 20 staff members are hired each summer to run camp operations in roles such as counselors, maintenance personnel, and kitchen staff. Over 40 volunteers join these workers to minister to nearly 500 students throughout the summer.

Christian summer camp weeks are filled with activities that utilize our beautiful outdoor setting. We offer fishing, mountain biking, wall climbing, basketball and volleyball courts, human foosball, low ropes, miniature golf, and a giant swing. In addition, campers have an opportunity to learn what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible studies, worship services, and devotional times tailored to each specific age group.

During the fall, winter, and spring seasons, CYC serves other non-profit organizations, schools, and churches through guest accommodations. We strive to be good stewards of the property God has given us. Our goal is that each person who comes to Cumberland Camp experience a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.

The camp provides a variety of housing to fit groups from 12 to 140.

Virginia Hill Dorm [below] is a two story facility with outside entrances on each floor. The dorm sleeps 68 campers (34 per floor).

Nine cabins [below] are located across the camp property. Each sleeps nine campers (72 total).

A duplex-cabin [below]  features two motel style units furnished with queen bed, microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker. The duplex provides excellent housing for camp director, pastor/speaker, retreat director, or worship leader. It is also available for personal retreats.

All housing is carpeted and air-conditioned.
