In addition to the primary role of providing a safe, fun, and life-changing experience for more than 400 children and teens each summer, in recent years the camp has expanded to include a variety of new opportunities for individuals, families, churches, and the community:
- Outdoor education program for local Elementary School Children.
- Retreats for children of Hospice patients.
- Retreats for military families.
- Father-son retreats.
- Senior retreats.
- Retreats for pastor’s wives.
- Retreats for teens and children.
With these expanded ministry opportunities in mind, Cumberland Camp has outgrown its present facilities, leading the Camp Board to take the next step in the development of the ministry—the construction of a conference and retreat center.
For the Next Generation
This proposed conference and retreat facility, will provide space for chapel services, seminar and workshop sessions, teaching and training activities, and a variety of other small-group activities.
The additional meeting space will not only be beneficial to the summer camp sessions, it will make the camp accessible to a broad range of groups and ministries throughout the year. In turn, the income from these meetings will help underwrite camp expenses, keep camp tuition costs low, and allow for a greater number of campers.
Situated on a ridge overlooking Cunningham Lake, the lodge-styled facility will feature a wraparound porch and seating for 100. Construction will cost $350,000. To date, the Light the Way campaign has raised more than $100,000 toward the cost of blazing a trail for the next generation. Won’t you help us light the way?
